Jerrie_Alexander_SmallA closet writer in my youth, I set aside my passion when life presented me with a John Wayne husband and two wonderful children. A career in logistics offered me the opportunity to travel to many beautiful cities in America, and I use those locations when writing dark, gritty romantic suspense novels.

I write alpha males and kick-ass women with a hint of humor. They weave their way through death and fear to emerge stronger because of, and on occasion in spite of, their love for each other.

Whether my hero is a member of our nation’s military, the FBI, CIA, or a Sheriff in a backwater Texas county, he’s intelligent, aggressive, and hard-headed. He fights injustice, lives life on the edge, and when he falls in love…it’s forever. Much to his surprise, he needs a woman who can think for herself.

My heroine is not afraid to stand shoulder to shoulder with her man and fight for her beliefs – a woman, who loves life, sex, and laughter – a woman who struggles through the dark times and pulls her man, sometimes kicking and screaming, into her heart.

cjustlin-200x300Cynthia’s love of the written word began at a very young age, when a trip to the library meant packing a lunch and heading out on her bicycle for a day of fictional adventures, but it wasn’t until Junior High that she discovered her own talent for storytelling and vowed to write a book someday. Cynthia went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in the chemical sciences, working at an engineering firm and as a lab manager for a high school science department, before turning back to her writing.
In 2009, Cynthia’s second book, INTRUSION, was nominated as a Romance Writers of America Golden Heart® finalist. Now, Cynthia writes gritty, action packed romantic suspense and thrillers for Carina Press.Cynthia lives in Arizona with her husband and two sons. She is also a Stage IV cancer survivor, and living proof that hope and faith can work miracles.

rita_henuberRita grew up running the beaches of a barrier island on Florida’s east coast. An island brat, she spent more time climbing weathered oaks and chasing alligators than playing with the dolls her family gave her. She married a Marine and feels fortunate to have lived many places and traveled to the states and countries she didn’t live. Retired from government service she moved back to that barrier island where she writes contemporary women’s fiction and suspense thrillers weaving her experiences into her stories. Her heros and heroines are either in the military or government service because she writes what she knows. Her father was in the Coast Guard and immediate family members served in every branch of the service as pilots, grunts, desk jockeys and everything in between.

Cindy NordBorn in Arizona, Cindy Nord moved from the southwestern desert to southwestern Indiana during her teenage years, then attended college, married and traveled around the country with her husband.  Eventually, she found her niche in the secretarial pool…”I could type fast but had no clue where commas went,” she says with a laugh.

After the birth of her two sons, she became a stay-at-home mom.  When the boys went down for naps, she settled in to read and escape into the world of historical novels.  A thousand stories and a long overdue divorce later, Cindy pulled out her father’s Tower typewriter and decided she would write a saga that contained the elements SHE liked best in a hero.

Cindy met her current husband, Tom, on a Civil War battlefield, where he was portraying a Captain of the 14th Indiana Infantry.  Right then and there, she decided to don a corset and become part of a unique little hobby called ‘Civil War Reenacting’; something she and her two young sons could enjoy together as a family. The rest, as they say, is history….and Cindy and Tom were married in June 1993.  Since then, they’ve toured many a battlefield, built their dream home, and raised the children to productive adults.

Through the years, Cindy was always surrounded by men…so she knows how they tick.  As the only sister between two brothers, she learned how to keep her head above the turbulent waters of male rivalry.  She carried that particular understanding into raising her sons.  She knows how the male mind works and brings these intriguing elements into the creation of every one of her heroes.  And yes…her sassy heroines know exactly how to push their buttons.

jenn-bray-weberJennifer Bray-Weber is a proud native Texan. She is a married domestic goddess and stay-at-home mom to two beautiful daughters. Holding two degrees, one in Music and Video Business, the other in Liberal Arts, she has been able to express her creative thinking through a multitude of experiences.

She finds it easy to long for a time and place filled with adventure, danger, grit, strong women and sizzling hot heroes.  She asks – doesn’t everyone do this?

Having a creative streak, Jennifer has never been satisfied with the mundane. Fortunately, she has a laundry list of mishaps to prove it. It has only been recently that she has put her imaginative (yeah – let’s go with that) escapes to pen and paper.

In her secret laboratory she fancies calling her “office,” Jennifer brews up stories of perilous quests and tainted love. Add a touch of dark intentions and a pinch of humor, stir in a happily-ever-after, and Shazam! She finds her inspiration in many forms–from as simple as a gesture or a quote, an interesting picture, a movie scene and even a historical fact. But mostly her inspiration is found in music. Just a string of melodic lyrics, the steady beat of a bass drum, or a desperate guitar riff can set the stage for a scene or character. For Jennifer, a song is like a prelude to an intriguing story.

Her interests include writing, reading, traveling (what she likes to call “research”), horseback riding, scrap-booking, shopping, relaxing at the beach, and playing games of darts.

She is an active member of Romance Writers of America®Northwest Houston RWA® Hearts Through History, and The Golden Network.

FTLOAGB: Donna MacMeans

Posted by The Bemis Promotions Team on Feb 13 2013, 7:00 am

Donna_MacMeans

For the first four months of the year, I’m a mild-mannered certified public accountant with a small tax practice. But come April 16th, I rip off the green eyeshade and transform into an impassioned writer of sexy historical romance novels, paranormals and romantic suspense. I live in Central Ohio with my wonderful husband of many, many years. My two adult children live close by with visiting dogs, fish, and even a pet snail named Killer. When I’m not knee deep in tax returns, or typing away on another manuscript, I’m active in several writing organizations. Every now and then, I break out my acrylic paints or pastels for a different creative venue, but of the two, I find writing to be not quite as messy. I love to cook (but hate to clean up). My desserts have a reputation of always incorporating chocolate and alcohol in some intoxicating fashion.

I started writing fiction in 1996. Although I loved to read historical romance, the thought of research was too intimidating for me to attempt. I wrote two contemporary romantic suspense novels – one of which was eventually published by Samhain publications under the pen name Donna Richards (it’s about a CPA, go figure).

My third manuscript, The Education of Mrs. Brimley, won the coveted Golden Heart medallion for Best Long Historical Manuscript presented by Romance Writers of America ® in 2006. Penguin Books, Berkley Sensation imprint, purchased that book and launched my published author career.

My books have been translated in Japanese, Dutch, and Norwegian. They’ve won multiple awards including the Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Award for Historical Love & Laughter, the Aspen Gold and More Than Magic. They’ve been finalists for the Maggies, the Holt Medallion, the Lories, the Prism, and Book Buyers Best. I’ve presented workshops to various chapters of RWA, Sisters in Crime, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators. I love talking to book clubs and readers across the country.

Janet Mullany is an award-winning, multi-published author who writes books set mainly in Regency England. Her first book, Dedication (2005) won the New Jersey Romance Writers 2006 Golden Leaf Contest. The Rules of Gentility, a funny, chicklit style Regency, won the 2008 HOLT Award (Virginia Romance Writers) for Best Romantic Comedy. She’s contracted to Little Black Dress Books, UK, for three more funny Regencies, the first of which, A Most Lamentable Comedy, will be released in July, 2009. In 2010, she makes her paranormal debut with a book about Jane Austen joining vampires to fight a French invasion (HarperCollins), and a novella in an anthology based on paranormal re-tellings of Austen’s novels (Harlequin). Janet’s novella is a contemporary based on Emma, about a paranormal dating agency in Washington, DC.

Janet is originally from England but now lives near Washington, DC. Her day jobs have included working as an archaeologist, performing arts administrator, classical music radio announcer, and editor/proofreader for a small press.
